Karen Whitney has helped companies in the life science industry build strong teams by leveraging her entrepreneurial, operational and scientific background in life science at venture-backed and multi-billion dollar companies.

As Vice President of Business Development at the NewcoGen Group, a Flagship Ventures fund, Karen successfully built organizations and revenue streams for the portfolio companies. Prior to that, she held sales and marketing leadership roles at PE Applied Biosystems (now Thermo), Celera Genomics and Pharmacia (now GE Healthcare).  She graduated from Colby College.

 

Karen currently serves on the Honorary Board (formerly served as Treasurer/Board Member) of Science Club for Girls, a Greater Boston based non-profit organization that fosters excitement, confidence and literacy in STEM for girls from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women mentors in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  She is a Business Advisor to Arex Life Sciences and Breathe Biomedial.
