Vice President Commercial Development — BioDot

Job Summary:
The Vice President of Commercial Development is responsible for worldwide sales, marketing and customer support efforts of the company’s products and services. You will partner with the CEO and the senior leadership team (SLT) to develop and drive the commercial strategic roadmap for growth and manage all of the commercial aspects of the company worldwide. Along with the CEO, you will be the commercial face of the company to collaborators and partners. You will interact with the Board of Directors to keep them abreast of strategies, challenges, and results.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Take ownership for the worldwide sales organization currently with leaders in North America, EMEA, and APAC; a total of x people.

  • Manage sales of liquid dispensing systems for test kit manufacturing customers — a market dominated in most segments by BioDot.

  • Manage the development of an R&D market for benchtop nanoliter and picoliter dispensing systems- a market with an entry point now ready for growth.

  • Develop and execute a strategy for channel development for a clinical lab product now beginning a phase of rapid growth based on successful KOL adoption.

  • With a current strong leader of marketing in your organization, optimize marketing programs, tools including the CRM, and inside sales to constantly increase the acquisition of new sales prospects.

  • Review and update service and consumables plans and pricing to satisfy customers and contribute meaningful margin to the business.

  • Through tools optimization, data analysis, and training, gradually improve worldwide sales forecasting.

  • Develop a strategic commercial (sales, marketing, business development, channel management) roadmap and an implementation process to drive revenue growth to achieve corporate goals.

  • Be responsible for identifying new markets and opportunities for existing products as well as future products, prioritizing those opportunities then presenting a business case and a path forward.

  •  Participate with the SLT to extend and refine the corporate business plan.

  • Outline a worldwide tactical plan for developing the market by creating awareness, leveraging strategic partners, and building relationships with Key Opinion Leaders to meet or exceed sales targets.

  • Ideally, live within commuting distance to have a presence at the Headquarters in Irvine, CA. However, remote candidates will be considered as well.



  • 10+ years senior commercial management experience in sales, marketing, and business development working for fluid dispensing, automation, diagnostics, or life science instrument companies.

  • BS degree in a scientific discipline, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology. PhD or MBA preferred.

  • Success leading small nimble commercial organizations to ramp revenues (revenues of +$50M.)

  • Proven track record of success in consultative style of marketing and selling life sciences solutions to industrial, diagnostic, life science, and medical product markets.

  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to launching new products to various regions around the world.

  • Experience with planning and implementing corporate exit strategies.

  • Passion, humility, integrity, collaborative, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.

  • Analytical and decisive decision-maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate to the team key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve commercial goals.
